ProActive Meditation Tips

Recently Susanne and I attended a Deepak Chopra gathering and was happy he covered different ways to meditate.  He used mantras that had no memory of thoughts that would  hinder your intention such as saying, “I am” over and over again to help clear the mind.  The basic idea is do find a technique that works for you!  Here is a popular method I use below called “The 360 Technique”.

The 360 Technique

Place yourself in a room where you won’t be disturbed by the phone or whatever. Close your eyes to envision yourself in a calm place either on a beach, by the lake, on a mountain; wherever you feel in your element. Once you have calmed your thoughts and feel good.  Bring in some senses such as what would this place sound like.  If you are near an ocean on the beach hear what the waves would sound like and the sea gulls nearby.  See yourself looking up at the sun and you would feel the warmth of the sun on your face and the wind blowing through hair.  What would this place smell like.  Bring in the ocean air or the smell of nearby trees and grass.  Feel this beautiful place around you with all your senses.

See yourself in this environment standing up and make a 360-degree turn either left or right very slowly in this altered state and notice who is around you. Some people you will recognize and some you won’t.  You may even see some animals perhaps. There could be 1, 5 or 20 people around you the amount doesn’t matter.  If you don’t see anyone wait for it as it may have been a long time and are looking at you at a distance.  Pick out one person in this spirit crowd that you are drawn to after you have made a complete turn and walk up to them, give them a hug and ask them if they have a message for you. There might be a hesitation if you are doing this for the first time as it may have startled the energies. Wait for a response and the first thing in your thoughts is your answer.  If it is a general answer tell them to give you more details.  You can tell them to, “Tell me more”.  The important thing here is to be patient and wait for a response.  Don’t ask too many questions in a row as this will have no response.

Take your time and don’t get too excited or fearful, as they don’t want to startle you.  Remember, your initial reaction may be that you are making it up in your imagination.  The vibration of spirit and imagination is the same so just know that it did come from your spirit.  Ask for general questions at first such as, “What do I need to know right now?”  or “What message am I ready to hear?”  This a good mediation technique to start your connection of your spirit crowd.
